Coachmen Sportscoach RD385DS Bunkhouse

We are going to pickup our "new to us" 2012 385DS on Monday. I need to get some supplies ahead of time as we are taking it out that week for a trip.

I'm interested in the storage area under the bunk beds. Is there open storage under the lower bed, and if so what is the depth and height. I'd like to pickup a couple of storage trays but need to know the size before I do this.

Also... I've noticed that it looks like there is not side trays or places to set down cups and such while sitting in the LR. Has anyone found a solution to this or found a small "coffee table" unit to use in this area?

Any other tips for "new owners" about this specific coach would be appreciated.

Hello RJOL,

We closed on our 2011 385DS this morning. I don’t think there is storage under the bottom bunk but I did not specifically look either. I am also interested in what others have to say since we are new to this brand.

You may be correct. In some later coaches, that area is blocked off with a panel. We will see in the morning, as we have a 9:15 PDI.

I guess we will both learn our "new to us" coaches, together....

Entry Stairs

Good evening RJOL,

I hope you are enjoying for new to you 385DS. We picked ours up finally last week and look forward to using it come spring.

I have a question that I was hoping you may have an answer. When I store the coach for an extended period I would like to have the entrance stairs in the stored position. So, when I am getting ready to leave the coach with the entrance door shut and the stairs in the "in position" I turn the main power switch off and open the door to leave. At the time the stairs extend out and will not go back in until the main power switch is turned back on. What am I missing? I thought that turning the power off it would turn the power off to the stairs. Any thoughts? I want to be able to store the coach with the steps in.

I hope I got you question, correctly.... There is a switch next to the steps on the left side of the entry. If you set that switch, correctly, the steps should go out and in each time you open and close the door. This switch is there to over ride that function, when you are camped...

Also.... I see I never answered the storage under the bunks.... No storage under mine....

Good luck....

RJOL,

I am familiar with the switch you are referring too.... That switch does work until I turn off the main house batteries to the coach. Do you turn off the main power when you store the coach?

My Coach is buried under snow right now (winterized) but I don't think that switch works in conjunction with the house battery switch. I don't turn off the house batteries as my coach is connected to power (charging) while in storage...
