Customer Service

My wife and i became "First Timers" last summer when we purchased our Forest River, Cedar Creek, Silverback, 29IK, fifth wheel. Doing our pre-purchase research, we read several articles that stated dealerships are your best friends while you purchase the RV. But once you have purchased your RV, it's like they never knew you and don't even care to know you or help you if you needed assistance. Well seven months into being "First Timers" we have found what we had previously read is very true with dealerships.

With that being said, I cracked a fiberglass piece (wheel skirting) on our 5th wheel pulling into a campsite (the RV education never ends ). the piece simply screws on which i can fix myself, if i can just get a replacement piece from Forest River. I have been told that i have to go through a dealership to order the part. But that is the issue. Where i live, Jacksonville, FL, the dealership we were referred to could care less. And returning to where i purchased the RV is not an option either because of horrible customer service.

Does anyone have any suggestions of a way i can deal with Forest River directly? or any other suggestions?

thanks

Hmm, this isn't the first time I heard of a situation like this. One owner took the trailer to the factory out of frustration.

I would contact Forest River/Cedar Creek directly. I would also advice you join the Forest River Owners Group and the Forest River Forums. With that being said here is the contact that can hopefully help you.

Another option is a good body shop, one that works on Fiberglass rides or a Marine "body Shop" you may be able to take the piece to them and have it re-built or repaired for less than a new one.

Not body panels but some other parts on my RV (Striker Bolts) I have new ones carved out of steel... Far superior to the OEM pot metal ones.

fr service

I know what you mean about dealers. They want to sell, not service. Forest River is nothing but busy signals. No response to email yet. I like my RV but the support so far appears to be little to none. I am still hoping for better response. My local dealer most likely will BS me since I did not buy through them.

Now that you are on the forums, check out the new forest river policy on warranty and parts, which now doesn't necessarily mean you have to get your parts thru a dealer. Our email communications with forest river have been excellent every time, but can be a little slow when they're really busy. They've always followed thru with us though, even when we wish the answer was a little different. Our local dealers won't help us either since we didn't buy from them, which of course means I never will- nor will anyone I can influence.

I would join the F.R.O.G. group and also contact the service and sales individuals at Cedar Creek per the link that was provided to you. I have had tremendous help and support from the factory support team on my 2016 34RL Cedar Creek with minor issues.

If you can I would attend the international Rally in Elkhart IN. this year.
When I was there two years ago, we saw, several trailers being repaired free of charge and these where RV’s that were 5 to 10 years old. Everything from awnings to refrigerators were being replaced on all of the Forest River product line. You can have up to 5 items repaired or fixed at this event.

As an example, the Silverback trailer next to me had an issue with his brakes on his trailer. The trailer was a 2014 model and the entire brake system on the axles were replaced from the backing plates with new shoes, magnetics and drums free of charge.
