Having recently purchased a 2011 Crusader 27' Fifth Wheel, we have been experiencing terrible problems with a defective entertainment center unit. The finish quality was not acceptable, vertical legs water damaged when delivered to us, DVD palyer access door would not close. Now some eight weeks later, we are still waiting on a complete unit as the old one has been replaced in parts and pieces. After arriving at our first camp site Dec. 28th, with new coach, we tried to raise the flat screen up out of its hiding place, only to have the access door make contact with sunshade lift rail, which actually ripped the counter top from the base cabinet...going on three weeks now, no parts to fix the unit. We have owned the coach for almost fifty days, unit has been at the dealer now for forty days...

Finally some good news to share...our new Crusader came home yesterday after a thrity plus stay at the dealership. Not bad considering we've only used it one time since November 22, 2011. We are excited at finally being able to do our thing in decorating and putting in the necessary stuff like dish's, DVD's, towels, pots, silver ware and of course clothes...Been a long time waiting on something that was considered to be brand new. The guys at Forest River, Kent, Roger all really helped in getting the repair parts to the dealership, five weeks went to on 3 1/2...

Glad to hear Forrest River stepped up to the plate and got your rig fixed. Now you can move to the fun part of RV ownership!
Safe travels!

Wish we could share the same excitement as you have expressed here. Yes, most of the things that were defective on the unit have been replaced. Found out yesterday, our unit left the manufacturer on July 2010. That means it has been at our dealership for some 16 months. No wonder so many things were wrong with it. If we had known that prior to purchase, we would have taken ownership of a brand new 2012 Model from a dealer down in Florida. Having worked in the automobile business for a short time in my career, I did find that any automobile that sets on a dealers lot for more than six months, will in fact have lots of cosmetic problems and some mechanical just like this 2011 Crusader had. This is the down side of the whole purchase...now so more than ever..But like some others have stated, we are stook with it and we will make the best of it....may have to go back a time or two more than usual to the dealer, but that's what a warranty is for.
Forest River has stepped up to the plate accordingly and we do thank them for that.
If only the dealer's staff were as interested in getting through all of this...made to feel sometime that I'm just a big pain in the a_s...
Thanks for commenting on our unit...we do like the floor plan of this unit and when we take it to Alaska next year, it will be ready!!!

You could look for another dealer to use. Make a big deal out of it. Explain how unhappy you were with the service on simple warranty items. You might find a dealer that would like to service another dealers customer to build a relationship and get the next purchase.
At any rate, hang in there. We had a lot of problems too but the dealer eventually got it straightened out and we did some slight realignment of our expectations. We are enjoying our rig now that it actually functions properly.
Good luck and try to have some fun Kick. Alaska huh! We are so jealous.

Our dealerships General Manager has been a friend for many years, and one of its previous owners was also a friend. For that reason and that reason alone is why I purchased this unit from them. We did in fact have the same deal offered to us on a brand new 2012 Crusdar 270 RET from a dealership down in Florida. Hine sight, putting friendship aside, I wish we had in fact purchased the 2012 unit, which was fresh off the block rather than what we have.
Can't tell you the hours and gas it has cost us in getting this unit back on the road, and yes, tomorrow we go again to the dealership (5th) time to have some additional warranty work performed. The mechanic has become almost like a second son to us since we now know him so well..
