Forest River Recall

Just this week received a recall notice for my Forester. The recall states that the Awning "may" self deploy while the coach is in motion. Not a good thing.
So has anyone also received this. Anyone had this issue fixed. How long did you wait for parts and repairs? What is the nature of the fix?

You might get answers if you post this on the Forest River Forums rather than IRV. You can post there directly into the Forester sub-group.

Finally heard from my service tech & the issue is on the awning arm switch & the failure of the switch! This switch operates the awning & the awning light. If it fails the awning may open while driving the RV on the road. Parts are on serious back order as the issues just occurred. Waiting on a “New” control switch!

I'd disable the switch ASAP. I also added an awning lock to mine 7 years ago and haven’t had any mishaps.

If you have the Solera Smart awning with the outside buttons on the arm, there is a chance that water can get into the buttons on the smart arm. I don't have a Forest River, but the awning may be the same.

The fix is to replace the button assembly on the arm.

I had to wait about 3 weeks for the parts to arrive. In the meantime, I just tied upright arms together with a large tie wrap. Better to destroy the motor or blow a fuse than to have the awning deploy. BTW, it was a 15 minute repair.

Just had my unit in the shop for minor warranty work. Also to check the Recall status. Repair folks explained my unit was OK, that it had the new part already. So it should be fine.
Yes your correct it is the outside buttons, as a sealed unit, is replaced for a fix on the Recall issue.
