Generator turns on but doesn't juice anything.

Update: Problem solved! *phew*

We have a 2015 30DS, 30amp, that was plugged into 110 shore power. The AC was on and we went to microwave some food and they both turned off. After some investigation on our end it turned out the circuit breaker to the outlet on the shore side had tripped, so once flipped over everything was fine. Today we were readying to move and start a week of boondocking, so we turned on the generator to power the AC and the generator kicked on but the AC never did. We looked and the microwave was out (no time display) and there is no power running to our outlets (checked phone chargers). We checked the breaker on the generator and regardless of which way it is flipped there is no juice.

Help! Thank you in advance.

Sounds like your automatic transfer switch (ATS) has failed to connect the generator to the breaker panel. Be sure to turn generator breakers off, then on again to be sure they have been reset. There is a time delay when connecting the generator, usually less than a minute.

If your RV isn't equipped with an ATS, then you have to physically plug the shore cord into a 30 amp outlet that provides the connection to the generator.

Thankfully we were able to find the loose connection and are all good for boondocking this week!

Do you have an auto transfer switch or do you need change a plug in when you switch from shore to generator power?

Change the plug over. When packing up, we knocked it a little loose in its bay. Total rookie mistake.
