It happened again! Water tank fell out!!

Have a 2015 Cardinal 3850RL fifth wheel. A year ago, on our way from CA to FL, the water tank almost fell out in Texas. Strapped it back up with a bunch of straps, and continued on our trip, no other problems. Since we used full hookups at campsites, we didn't have to use the water tank. Although we did keep a small amount of water in it so we could use the bathroom, sink, on the road till we hooked up for the night. So just now, after picking up our trailer from storage, and on way back to house, 2 motorists motioned to us on the freeway that something was coming out of the back of our trailer! Pulled over...the entire water tank was DRAGGING on the ground! And this time has a big hole in it! And this is after the dealer took 3 MONTHS to fix it last summer, put new brackets in to hold it up, new underbelly, etc!! My husband is irate at the moment. We were leaving Monday for a week...still are, as we'll have full hookups, just can't use the tank. All strapped up again. Called the dealer..same runaround, no one in till Monday, etc. Should still be under the extended warranty. Know this has been a problem..anybody else have this? At this point, I feel like I want a whole new rig!!

Factory install for a rectangular water tank on a Travel Trailer or 5th Wheel is typically 3 or more metal straps well secured to metal frame rail members on both sides of the tank, with the tank hanging down between the rails. You might look and try to see what failed, perhaps the straps were not well secured to the frame rails. Water weighs 8.3 pounds per gallon. For example if you have a 50 gallon water tank the method of securing the tank has to support over 400 pounds and has to be able to handle the stresses of that 400 pound weight wanting to shift when you hit big bumps or make sharp turn manuevers.

Forest River makes enough RVs that I doubt its a engineering defect, it may have started that the straps were not installed correctly on the assembly line for your particular unit. Then, it seems that whoever did the first repair did not install it correctly, either.
