Kwikee electric steps stopped working
2017 forester mbs electric steps quit in retracted or in position. Replaced 10 amp in line fuse and now have power in red wire of four wire plug. Tested on/off switch and door magnetic switch and bench tested motor, all checked ok. Yellow ignition over ride is not working, cannot find where it is powered from, but shouldn’t steps still work with no power here or is it necessary for module to work. Guessing bad module. Also still looking for power supply for over ride, no bad fuses in main box or under seat. Any guesses where it is powered from?

The Kwikee step service training manual should contain the information needed.

FYI
While looking for power supply for over ride on steps, found that with ignition on, there was no power to chaises side of plug. Started engine and power was in yellow wire of plug. Steps still will not work but pretty sure problem is in the control module. Removed linkage pin, oiled support arms to make sure no binding. Will call lci tomorrow and order control module after verifying part #.

I just went through this myself. Depending on how old, your best bet is to upgrade the guts of the system. LCI will try to sell you the kit for about $700 but you can buy the exact same kit on Amazon for under $300. If you can find it the older control module is almost $200 with no guarantee that’s going to fix your problem.

lci
After testing wiring and motor, contacting lci for part numbers and there thoughts on my problem, & talking to a tech rep., the problem is now solved. Assuming I need to order the faulty part, the tech says he will send me questioner with necessary info. I ask why, is this warranty related. He says the steps were under warranty for two years from date of purchase if I am the original owner. Sent pictures & proof that I was. Received the control module today by UPS ground in two days. Thank you lci inc. & especially parts and tech for pleasant help & experience in transaction. Nice to have a positive experience with all the negativity associated with some of the suppliers. Thank you again lci.
