Lordy, What Have I Done!!!!

If any of you follow the Cooking Channel or Food Network you might have seen a friend of mine named Jason Smith won two baking competitions to earn himself his own show. He is a deep Southern Kentuckian and is famous for his "Lord Honey" comments.

He came to mind today when my lovely, Carol, and I put our money down on a 2017 Forest River FR3 30DS. Lordy, What have I done!?!?!?!? This will be our first RV and we are really looking forward to getting out and enjoying it. First things on the improvements list is a tire pressure management system and a steer safe.

A little background on us. I'm retired from the US Army (1992) and just recently from the state government of Kentucky. Originally from PA but have been here for 40 years. Carol is a born and raised Kentuckian and has been a real estate Broker/Agent for 30 some years and owns her own brokerage, NextHome Custom Realty in Frankfort which we will continue to work.

Oh Lordy, what have I done?!?

Thanks to all for the warm welcome and additional information. On the eve of the pickup, I can feel the trepidation of the steep learning curve that will commence tomorrow.

I look forward to meeting many of you on the road in the days and years ahead. And if anyone needs a tour guide in the Frankfort, KY area please give me a shout!

My lovely and I have taken two short trips just to try everything out. A couple of hiccups but otherwise smooth sailing. Only glitch so far is the step switch won't shut off the steps so they go in and out every time the door is opened and closed.

Lovin it so far!

Good to hear you’re enjoying it.
I have a switch by entrance door to over ride and will leave step out all the time except when ignition is on and door closes.

Thanks WindsorBill! That is what our switch doesn't do. I've tested the switch and it is good so the problem is further in the wiring.

Motorhome. ... It seems another way to say "serving suggestion." Just because switches or circuits or valves or bolts or...anything, are present does not mean they work. These are all ideas, incomplete solutions or just forgotten misadventures. What we buy new, or used, in this RV adventure is an essentially an incomplete and unfinished product...like a project.
Eight years into her life and some things work only now, unnoticed by the previous owner, bungled by the factory, mangled by the workers, lost in the hury.
Fulltiming in this Rolling Earthquake for only a few months now, "Lordy what have I done" describes it well! Grateful to understand machines, electricity, hydraulics, pneumatics, thermodynamics, kinetics, metallurgy...or at least how to say those words, I do hope a shop will not ever be called to work on this, my dwelling.

We had the same step problem with our coach and just happened to be in Red Bay (home of Tiffin) for some service. The technician rolled under the steps on a creeper and was back out in about 30 seconds....loose wire. So look around underneath the step assembly for anything loose. Your Army training will come in handy I'm sure! (AF guy here All I can say is you're going to have issues and things are going to break, but you're still going to have more fun than a human being should be allowed to have!

You just discovered a great way to SEE THE USA. And if you decide to dump the sticks and bricks when you retire.. A low cost retirement plan.

Enjoy the RV. Go visit your friend and learn to cook, Have fun, and enjoy.
