Motorhome and car rental

Has anyone considered not pulling a toad behind their mh and renting a vehicle when you get to your destination from 'enterprize ' rentals...etc..would be a plus for full timers by eliminating owning another vehicle and insurance, plus the hassle of hooking , unhooking, parking while on the road/fueling..

We have done it , but now we just got a new sonic that can be toad 4 down and we will be using it. You find they most people prefer to have there own wheels with them rather then the hassle of renting, plus if you just need to run to the store for some milk you have your wheels handy all the time.
If I did just travel all the time I may consider not taking the toad but once you park for a couple weeks it's nice to have the toad

Also depends on where you go. Some places have car rentals all over the place. Some places don't. ;-)

Yes, that is what we do. If we have to pick up a car a few miles from our destination, then no big deal because we still only use our MH once a month or so.

We take our car along with us because of convenience and it's paid for. Renting a car can cost more than $20-30 a day, I'd feel guilty if I didn't drive it every day I was paying for it.

Renting works for us, given our travel plans. We have a spring trip to VA, NC, & TN. We will be staying in one spot for 7 days 3 times. Rental will run about $375. It is worth it to me not to have the extra hassle. Have never had an instance where Enterprise would not pick us up and return us. Or, frequently they have an arrangement with the campground to just let us leave the car there.
If we ever full time, or take extended stays, we plan to get a dolly. Don't plan to trade our 3 year old Honda with less than 5K on it, just to go 4 down.
