Has any one replaced the shower mixing valve? if so how did you do it. It seems like I will need to cut an access panel in the bedroom wall that backs to the valve body.
Also I picked up a new mixer valve, 2 actually, neither will cover the hole that was cut in the fiberglass wall of the shower. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

From my research there is nothing that will work except the junk plastic crap that is there now. I have been trying to find a quality single handle shower faucet for a couple of years. They just don't exist.

I have replaced a couple. Both could be done from the front with a little finesse. In installed a Moen in my Brave and a Delta in my Journey.

Lowe's is now selling a cover plate that will cover the area when switching from a two handle to a single handle, maybe it would work for you.

My Delta single handle is an adjustable anti-scald and and I have the temp set to the perfect shower temp when fully open. That way when showering, I turn the handle off instead of the button on the shower handle. That way I don't get the drip while its off or the shot of cold water when turning it back on.

Also it was easier on my last one to replace the fittings with Sharkbite fittings. Made it a lot easier.
