We have a 2007 Forest River 38' 5th wheel toy hauler and the square dark gray foam seal on the roof edge of the slide has worked loose, rolling out from where it should be when we extend or retract the slide. We are currently 7500 miles into a 9500 mile odyssey and we'll be home in about three weeks. I've been pushing the material back 'in place' with a broom handle each time and we can live with it 'til we get home.
My questions are:

1) We purchased the 2007 unit 'brand new' (it had never been titled or used) and we got a full factory warranty. How big a job is it to repair this?

2) I've not read anything about maintenance for these seal - waxing, whatever. Anyone know if there is a periodic 'thing' one does with the seals, inside and outside?

Thanks in advance as I know someone will have the straight dope for me.

Sorry I don't have any dope or answers for you but seeing as no one has chimed in yet I will just add that usually warranties do not cover seals.

i was told to wipe it clean every once in a whial and also spry it down with the stuff you use to shine your tires i use tirw wet but there are also other brands that do the same. it will keep the ruber from drying out and will keep it remaining flexable. the mechanic at the dealer that was working on my coach told me this and insted of paying the 100 for the dealer the can cost about 5-8 dollors at the car parts store but i have also found it at target, walmart, and others, you can also just use armerall but will have to do it more often. so if it looks dry or is making a squell when moving the slide time to spray the seals
