New Product from Dooley distributed by 5 Star
EGTs, Exhaust Gas Temperatures - the number one thing you should be concerned about if you run a diesel or high performance engine. Monitoring them can help you determine how well your engine is operating and help protect it from damage.
Wouldn't it be nice if they made a small EGT pyrometer that you could mount directly on your dash so you wouldn't have to cut a hole in it or mount a big gauge pod? And why not build in an easy to use adjustable visual and audible alarm to warn you that your EGTs were getting in the dangerously high range? You wouldn't have to take your eyes off the road when you were towing that grade to know to let off the throttle a bit.
Well here it is, the DA100!
Pricing $195.00 plus $9.00 shipping.

They have made one for yrs. that fits into a 2 1/4 inch hole.
No alarm, but the gauge was very accurate, and easy to read.

The units for the rear engine pushers will be out soon, we will have pricing on those soon. We would like to know any interest in the pusher unit.

At the risk of showing my ignorance, why would I want to know the exhaust temperature? What will it tell me that all the other information (engine temp, transmission temp, etc.) would not?

This unit only reads exhaust temp, when you start doing performance mods to the diesels alot of people like to keep an eye on their egt's [exhaust gas temp]. Which is not a bad idea especially when you get in the steeper hills even on a stock engine. It can prevent you from damaging your engine.

I have a 35' Bounder DP with a 300HP C7. Is there a kit with long wires yet?

If it has an adjustable module on it, you would just turn down the power level. If you don't have any adjustability you would back off your accelerator to make it cool down.

Too hot and you may melt things, like a piston. To prevent this you take your foot out of it. Actually you pay attention to the display and as things get warm you ease out of it so you don't get to critical temps.

Well, If I didn't already have one that was included in the Banks kit I'd be interested in the DP unit.
