Got my 5 Star Tuning installed a few weeks ago. Took a 200 mile trip and very pleased with the improvement, especially in the shifting. The highway we took is fairly flat except for overpasses. Before, while running in cruse, it would downshift into third and rap up to 4500 rpm. Now it doesn't down shift and doesn't even shift out of torque converter lock up and runs 2200 rpm on the same overpasses. Next trip will be 2800 miles. We'll see how it does then.

So, if I read the previous posts right, as long as your V10 is between 1996 and 2015, the ECU code really doesn't matter any more? And you can swap the tune from custom to stock and back to custom as many times as you want. The limit of 5 comes in for new vehicles?

The device will only have 1 tune per vehicle unless you opt to run higher octane. For those that opt for 89, 91 or 93 octane, we will need vehicle information prior to completing the tunes. As for the 87 RV Daily Tow, all of our 110+ custom tunes are preloaded onto our RV device. This will save you from having to hunt for vehicle information or loading an email tune onto the device. The tune in regular mode is oriented for normal driving, while the tow/haul options uses a different map geared for towing.

BPoland, You are correct! Anything based from 1996-2015 will come preloaded onto the device. If the vehicle has headers, intake, throttle body... then the vehicle specific information is needed to make the custom tune with other aftermarket options. When used on the same vehicle, you can go back and forth as often as you'd like. When you go between vehicles either back and forth or to your next vehicle it counts as 1 of your 5 vehicle unlocks.

So sending the code off the ECU, I my case PRW4, was to make sure the tune covered that ECU code. I was worried that you guys would send me the wrong tune, and I would end up with a boat anchor for an engine. If it could happen, I would be the guy it would happen to.

So far I have only done a 10 mile each way trip down the expressway. It shifted smoother and seemed lock in sooner and hold longer. It will be a while before I can really give it a work out.

If I may ask, how did you not receive support? I am always accessible via phone, email, pm, etc. I only have 1 email from you to which we responded. Are there other questions that you have that I can answer?

Fully understandable. Always happy to check support for those that would like further peace of mind. There are also fail safes within the tuner to not load the incorrect program or to stop programming and revert to stock if something is corrupt. Hope you have the opportunity to take it out in the near future and give it a good workout.

I'm not sure what the issue is or was. Myself and quite a few others on this board have had the occasion of asking 5Star for assistance either with the initial load of the tune or issues that have presented themselves afterwards. I have never heard a negative remark made about 5Star support. They will respond by phone, email, PM or publicly on this board.

Just sayin, the company doesn't fit the complaint.
