We just got back from a1,000 mile trip from Northern Illinois to Nashville and then up into the mountains for a few days. I'd installed the 5 Star tune a few days before we left.
The ride was noticeably quieter and the shifting seemed smoother. So far I think that it was worth the money.

Question

I had something interesting happen on a short drive to a local campground. This was the first time pulling the Grand Cherokee more than the two miles home from storage. Once we cleared the Baltimore beltway, I really wanted to see what kind of difference the tune would make. After a few miles, I put it in Tow/Haul mode. I started going up a gentle grade, a guesstimate would be about 2%. Enough to slow us down a little. I kept waiting for it to downshift. I kept adding more gas, and it refused to downshift. I let off the gas comepletely and put it back to the floor, and no change. Once I knocked it out of tow/haul mode it downshifted normally. Has anyone ever encountered this situation?

My 2004 doesn't have "Tow Haul". Is that the same as turning off Overdrive?
That is what I do when going up grades so I'm already in the lower gear so it doesn't downshift.

You have a 4 speed transmission. The "O/D Off" switch turns off the O/D ( 4th gear ) and puts it in direct drive ( 3rd gear ).

I do the same thing when the speed starts to drop off on a uphill climb.

I also use it to control downhill speed. If the speed starts to climb, I hit the button.

The newer 5 speed with Tow/Haul puts the transmission in a mode for hands free hill climbing and downhill shifting.

Aww, man, I just bought a used one a couple weeks ago! LOL I'll be contacting them for an email tune, though, since it was originally used on a 2V V-10, and I have a 3V with a Banks Ram Air.
