Mobley device tethered to a WiFiRanger

Recently, there has been a significant increase in interest in the ZTE Mobley modem because of a low-cost unlimited plan being offered by AT&T. A Mobley can be successfully tethered to a WiFiRanger Go router using the USB port, however, there are a few things users do have to know:

1. The Ranger's DNS should be set manually to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. This requires that your Ranger be operating in the "Advanced Mode". To activate the advanced mode go to the Setup tab of the Control Panel and set the button "Hide Advanced Features" to OFF.

2. You must be sure to use a USB cable that is wired for both voltage and data. There are a lot of USB cables distributed with charging devices that only contain the wires for passing voltage to a device--such cables won't work for this purpose.

Tethering should be possible for Go routers other than the Go1 model which was the first of this series. Go1 owners can either connect their Mobley devices via wifi or they might consider upgrading their Go1 to a current GoAC model which offers significantly better performance when compared to the older device.

If you are having difficulty getting your Mobley to tether feel free to contact me via PM or through this thread or you can contact the WiFiRanger Help Desk at www.wifiranger.com

Is there any issue with the mini from the sky2 pack? How about the generic VM6200 rather than the AT&T branded device?

When I connect I get a “filtered internet “ statement (sorry, new to WFR)

"Filtered" usually relates to situations in which connections are made but data is not flowing.

Do you know what firmware your mini is running? If the firmware isn't 7.0.6 please update it.

Are you setting the Ranger's DNS server address manually?

If you continue to have problems, let me know the ID number of the device.

Mobley

Joel, do you have any idea when, or if Mobley will become available again? Thank you. Ted

I don't have any insight into Mobley availability, that's not a WiFiRanger issue, sorry.
