I believe they quote about a 30 hp increase. As they said to me if you continue to drive as always you should see a little improvement I have seen them post up to 10%. Of course if you use your new found horse power mileage will probably go down.

How's does the 5star tune affect the tow/haul mode?

I have not had a chance to test that yet but hopefully someone will chime in. There are some guys who have been using it for years.

I don't use the tow/haul mode, I think it's goofy. So I don't know.

I put mine in tow haul on a short trip, the gears stay engaged longer. At this point that is all I can tell you. I honestly don't think tow haul will be needed. When I tow the first time I am going to try without it.

Interesting. I use tow/haul all the time for the engine braking. Helps save the brakes.

I'm surprised more people don't use it. These rigs are pretty heavy.

I just downshift manually going downhill or even when coming up to a stop light or stop sign. I've done a lot of mountain driving and it works for me.

For the 2V motors you will see +30 hp/+30 lb ft at the wheels.
For the 3V motors you will see +30 hp/+75 lb ft at the wheels.

We've had several customers say they've seen anywhere from 5-10% increase in economy. I've also had several tell me they haven't seen any gains in economy because they love to run 80 mph It all comes down to driving style and use.

Does the extra torque affect the transmission?

I know a transmission repair guy and he was talking about some people soup up their cars and it takes out the transmission.

Is that a possibility on these?

I know I haven't seen any posts on here over the years about a Ford transmission going out so they must be pretty strong.

I don't think you have any worries, the increase is about 30hp so that is not enough to do any damage and actually using the tuner is probably better for the transmission as it more effectively uses all of the gears which should reduce some torque.

No worries there. When designing our tunes we stay well within Ford's design parameters not to stress the engine/transmission. Our goal is to make the vehicle drive better, not to make it a Ferrari. Ford does pair the motor with a solid, well built transmission.

Same here. Using tow/haul mode helps greatly with stopping the motorhome. It seems like it saves a lot of wear on the brakes. I've tried it both ways, with and without tow/haul mode engaged.
