That’s an awesome test of the tune. The torque increase down low is great. I was on the fence but this may make my decision for me.

Here are the dyno graph from that day of testing ,* RV all stock running 87 octane power to the rear wheel ,* *lots and lots of drive train loss*
Torque is king in this kind of vehicle , the real purpose of the IKE was to show the tune can handle extreme conditions and its SAFE and Reliable! and at wide open throttle for 8 miles it got better mileage too

The torque (rise) and flattish hp curve shapes are reminiscent of the old 237 hp Mack Maxidyne engines, which only needed a 5-speed transmission (Maxitorque transmission) due to the steep torque rise. If you could catch 1200 rpm on an upshift when going up hill, you'd hear the turbo spool up and knew you'd be ok. If too slow, or the hill too steep, the turbo wouldn't kick in and you'd have to drop back down a gear.

As the truck slowed on a hill, the torque output would rise until equilibrium was reached. Power dropped only a little, but the power required dropped faster as you were climbing the hill slower, but for a mechanical diesel engine, that's a really flat power curve.

That really steep and long torque curve was a pleasure to drive, in a manner of speaking, even though overall it was pretty wimpy for an 80,000 lb truck. Very little shifting needed compared to other offerings at the time (1970's), the worst of which were the Detroit Diesels with a super narrow power band. 13-, 15-, and 18-speed Roadrangers. Yuck.

Your tuned curves bear more than a small resemblance to those diesel curves from back in the day.

Fun video, great to see real data, but 45% drive train losses, really?

You sure somethings not wrong with that dyno or the torque converter wasn't locking up or something? Whats the altitude of the dyno? Never heard of losses that high.

Yup, fun to watch but who takes off and drives with the gas pedal to the floor ?

I floored my new MH once, just to see how it felt.

My old one, a few times climbing hills, but not for 8 miles.

Chris, Any prior dyno tests on the V10 to compare against? Curious if the hp loss is typical with the V10.

converter locked and yes dyno working correctly, look at that drive shaft and balancer on drive shaft and those 5.13 gears ... it is what it is .. real world

Here is one also a 2016 class A but an 18k lb chassis with 4.56 gears
not as much on this one as its the smaller chassis

we have a thor axis on the e450 chassis would love to see what the difference is on the 2 valve v10 6 speed.

Oh I get it your not doing steady state, now the results from the video make more sense, honestly I question the value of an inertial power run on an RV but I guess it tells you how it helps off the line but not climbing or cruising.

This is why the 0-60 time went down 3 seconds, but going up the IKE gauntlet only went down 3 seconds over 11 minutes, the only difference in power seems to be in the 0-60 type situations, your not increasing power going up a hill in a steady state.

Just no way the F53 is dropping a 100kw into the drive train as heat going up a hill the whole thing would probably start glowing red, most of that loss is just inertial spinning the drive train up to speed off the line not friction.

The RV on the dyno , We have capability to do from small cars to RV

Once again this was a extreme test at 11000 feet at wide open throttle . Tune is completely safe and has all of Fords safe plates intact. Most driving is done back at 4000 rpms and below which is where the power and torque gains are at.
