I just recently purchased this DS for a song but with some known issues that I'm trying to work through... first the windshield. The gasket was ripped when I bought it so I gorilla taped the windshield to get it home. So I pick it up but had to spend 3 hours cleaning off the silicone spray they used so the gorilla tape will stick enough to get me home! After getting it home my dad and brother and I got the glass back in the gasket but it does bulge at the corners.
I'm thinking of trying to x-brace the basement and then caulk the glass to the gasket hoping that will help. Any thoughts?

So do you live in KY or IN? We had our windshields in our 2001 DS replaced by a company out of Lexington, KY two years ago. Came out to the house and did a great job.

Reason I asked about where you live, is in KY there is no deductible on glass replacement, although they CAN charge for a seal replacement if a new seal is required. Not all replacement glass is equal. If you are trying to reinstall the glass that bulged out when you purchased it, it is possible that the glass you have isn't the correct glass to begin with. On a split windshield like you have, they generally remove and reseal/replace one pane, then move on to the other. Reason I was told is that the fiberglass cap will deform slightly if you remove both glasses at the same time, making it difficult to reinstall the glass.

Thank you for your response! I live in southern Indiana... insurance said since the glass wasn't broken and I hadn't "impacted" something they wouldn't help... they checked the part numbers on my glass and it was correct numbers.
