05 hurricane house batteries?

How are my house batteries being charged? By the engine or by the generator?

The generator runs the converter/charger OR inverter/charger, just like plugging in to shore power, to charge your house batteries.

Your alternator charges you chassis battery and that, in turn, connect to the house battery thru the isolation relay when underway.

Isolation relays ( solenoids ) do fail and cause your " no charge from engine " problem.

Get the engine running while monitoring your house battery volts. Push and hold the boost button and watch for a rise in voltage. If no voltage rise, the solenoid is bad.
The boost solenoid is also the isolation solenoid. Most times you can find it by hitting the boost switch and listen for it clunking. They clunk but don't actually connect internally.
