12 volt electrical problem in HR Neptune

! have a 2005 HR Neptune. I started out on a trip from Vermont to Florida. I stopped to have quick bite. I started the microwave using the inverter rather than bothering starting the generator which I do quite often. I heard a little buzz and all my dc house power went out. No effect on my chassis power. I checked breakers and fuses and found no problems. I started the engine and the 12 v power started working again. About 20 miles down the road the power cut out again and then shortly after came back on. I got to my first stop on and tried again to figure out what was going on. At that time everything worked fine. Since then the 12 v house power continues having intermittent problems. No problems when hooked up to shore power or when the generator is running. The problem that occurs when driving or stopped only on house power is always intermittent. Lights go out or gps which is connected to lighter outlet shuts down only to restart anywhere from a few seconds or a couple of minutes. I assume it must be a solenoid or something like that but have no clue as to where to look.

Battery posts need cleaning and tightening.

Next time it goes out, quickly feel the battery connections for a hot one. That's a bad connection.

"4stringbanjo"....... Your symptoms sound like you have dirty connections as mentioned above, or a bad ground elsewhere. About 90% of the time, a bad ground is the issue. Here are a couple of things to check. Go to your inverter and tightened the battery cables at the inverter. On the positive cable to the inverter, there is a large fuse, about the size of a standard bandage. Check that it isn't partially burned or the connections are lose.

I Terminals did not appear dirty but there were two cables that were a little loose. I tightened them up well and it appears to have corrected the problem. Since the problem was intermittent, I won't know for sure until I head out and get on the road, but I do feel confident that was the problem. I never would have thought of that. Hard to believe it was that simple a solution
