I sometimes get 25-30 with my V10. Then I get to the bottom of the hill and have to put my foot back on the gas. Drops right back down to 8.

Have to laugh reading this thread, but it brings up my encounter with gas mileage claims.....Twice last year, I had guys with large 5th wheels towed by 1 ton diesel pickups tell me that they get 15 mpg towing their trailers. Should I be believing them? One was a Chevy, the other a Dodge...both trailers were at least 35ft

BTW...I tow a small 5th wheel with my GMC gas pickup and have done the best of 10 mpg on a good day.

Those claims do work. Lots of politicians get elected making outrageous claims. Buy it, get 6 mpg, and see what his 14 mpg claims mean. Tell him to put it in writing as an expressed warranty.

Do you live in the mountains? Perhaps he only includes the mileage going down hill on a good day with a tail wind. In other words... No Way... Perhaps that is why he is selling the motorhome .... he is having a problem with reality..

Maybe that's what the chassis got before they built the box on it? But now I feel better hearing all your numbers makes my seven mpg with my old 460 a little easier to swallow.

The only time I got more than 8 mpg with the 2000 v10 class C i had was coming back to Texas from Colorado was 12.1 mpg. I was going downhill with a 35 mph tail wind and only driving 55 mph.

Tell him ok, let's fill it up and go for a hundred mile test spin, top it off when you get back and for every mile per gallon you're off you deduct 2 grand off the price. That should shut him up.
