ok on my vacuum meter, 0-6 is poor; 6-12 is fair; 12-21 is good and 21-30 is excellent, now at 55-60 mph cruising speeds, i average between 14-16 not towing, at acceloration at a small incline, it goes down to 9-11, but do these numbers indicate mpg or is there a way to indicate what mpg by the readings indicated.

nothing to do with mpg only to how efficent your motor is running or to your driving habits (good or bad)

you will be in the 8 to 9 mpg at best with a good tune up

motor has a fresh tune up as well, forgot to mention it. Dave you have been very helpful, now i need to start all the propane items to make sure everything else works. dave do you have only one fuel tank, i have heard that some have 2 tanks, but i have only found one fuel cap, makes me assume it only has one fuel tank. another thing, the generator runs well, but i was informed that it will shut off if the fuel tank reaches 1/2 full, is this true.

mine is a 28 foot i have one 75 gal tank my generator runs till just below 1/4 tank usually dies in a turn then i can restart from dash i now try not letting it get that low good luck i love my fleetwood do you have your manuals

i have some of the manuals, not all, i have individual manuals for each component, like fridge, stove, water heater, furnice, ect. but i dont know what im missing or what a complete manual looks like.

The only true way to check your mileage is to "top it off" (pack it full), drive it for a while, and go back to the exact same pump, in the same gas station, and "top it off" again. Divide the miles driven by the gallons used- then you'll know-.

The vacuum gauge will teach you to use the gas pedal in a economy mode.

I had my '91 S-10 A/C converted to R-134 some years ago, maybe 8 or 9.
I just recently noticed it needs another dose of R-134. It cooled much better than when I had R-12 in it.

I worked for GM at the Hydra-matic, Willow Run, MI plant when your transmission was "born"- . It's a great unit, the same model was put in Rolls Royces at that time.

thanks max, i appreciate the good feedback on the transmission, it was recently rebuilt, so hopefully i get several miles on it.
regarding air conditioner, i dont know if i will use it much unless i go somewhere in the summer with it, it may be parked most of the summer time.
i was just curious about mileage, but its good to know all the information everyone has given me, very helpfull. the motor has 87300 original miles on it, so i know i may still have quite a bit of life still on that big block 454

Dave, Yours is doing good
Mine has been hanging in at 8.25 MPG which is hard for me to believe since last year with NO changes it was 9.10 to 9.25 MPG.....
A few weeks ago I changed plugs & wires, Old plugs were A.C. 43s with 18,000 miles now they are back to stock (A.C. Delco 44s and the wires were still decent but reinstalled new anyhow..
The wires I use are the "Borg Warner select" from Pep boys with straight boots to slip between the "Thorley headers", NO sign of heat attacking the boots at all.

I just bought a 1983 Pace Arrow and I think it's the 30 footer but I still have to measure it.
I drove a 5 hr trip and averaged 8.22 mpg and that was with the unit totally empty as I had just bought it. It had old gas in it that I toped off,I never checked the air pressiure in tires or anything. I was driving mostly at 112 km/hr (70 mph) and i idled it for 1.5 hrs in total as well I was testing it out on hills so was sucking fuel back more that way too.
It has 86,000km on it (54,000 miles). My vacume gauge mostly read at about 10. Hope this helps.

my first coach was a 85 pace arrow............. best i ever got was 6.2....!!!
no overdrive and a 388 rear gear.
