Question 1986 Mallard

We are going to look at an '86 Mallard C class. I don't seem to find much info about them. From the pics it looks clean. Can anyone share their info/experiences? Thanks

I bought my first motorhome (used) in 1995 ... one of the units I looked at was a used class C Mallard ... the company had quit making motorhomes a few years before that ... it seemed to me to be similiar, in quality, to Tioga, Itasca, Winnebago, Jayco, etc ... from that vintage.

We did not buy the Mallard because we found a Jayco with a floor plan that we liked much better.

The care and maintenace of any used motorhome (and certainly one from 1986 ) will be very important as you make your selection. That will me more important than the name painted on the outside ... in that era they all start with a chassis (probably Ford or Chevy) ... and stove, refrigerators, hot water heaters, etc. that are made by a small covey of manufactures ...

On an 86 model, you will want to carefully inspect the unit for water leaks. Older Class C's are prone to leaking in the cab over area. repairing water damage and rot can be very expensive or a lot of work.

Otherwise make sure all of the appliances and systems work and make sure they provide all of the original owners manuals.
