Just got this from the estate of a retired rv dealer. It has 16K on it. Everything works except for one major problem. The Generac generatorhas blown the main crank seal(probably from sittin up to long-it has 283 hrs on it). It is a 9600 series generator and Generac says they no longer carry parts for it. Any thoughts as to where I might get the seal I need. Thanks.

Welcome to iRV2. You might do a Google Search for RV Salvage and see if any of them can give you a lead on one or a used generator set.

Post some photos. We all love pictures of the beautiful old rigs.

I have no idea, but that model is considered a classic by many and there may be a classics MH club on line. Try searching for one. I know that the Winnegabo Itasca Travelers now have a Classics group. It just started this year and they had one parked with the other classics. Just a thought.

Chris - any bearing and seal parts supply place can match up a seal for you - they will have to measure the crank outside diameter and the housing inside diameter ( your old seal may even have a number on it) - I have done this many times in similar situations- one time I rebuilt a 1977 Kawaski bike engine- needed three new crank bearings and seals- went to Kawasaki and nothing in stock all had to come from Japan- the bearings would cost 180 a peice and the seals 30 a peice and six weeks minimum delivery time- went to the bearing supply place with the bearings and seals and they had two of the bearings in stock, ordered the third at 55 a peice and the seals they had in stock at 20 a peice - also any Generac seals I have replaced have been metric in size.

Got the part number from Generac and then hit the "net". Found a overstock dealer in Rapide City,S.D. that had two of the seals in stock. They are on the way. Thanks to everyone for their kind help.

p.s. Also found the manual on the "net" as Generac no longer posted one. Now have schematics for the Generac and every part on the Elante!
