1999 Coachmen Mirada only starts with emergency start switch

My 1999 Coachman Mirada only starts with the emergency start switch. I replaced the chassis battery and checked the ground. It all started when I started the generator. It would only start with the RV running so I started the RV then started the generator. I did this a couple of times then the RV would not start. I replaced the battery but no luck. Any insights. Thanks.

Do you have a "Store / Use" switch for the Chassis? If so, this controls a solenoid switch that disconnects the battery. There is a fuse on that solenoid that may be blown.

Mine doesn't have the disconnect, but I've heard some do.

Yes, it does. The light for the disconnect switch comes on. Thanks.

If the fuses are ok on the solenoid, the solenoid may be bad. Test the voltage on both sides of the solenoid (the large wires) with the solenoid in store mode, and again in Use mode.

If you suspect its a bad "store/Use" solenoid, bypass it by moving the large wires to one terminal. i.e. disconnected the large wire from the left side of the solenoid and place it on the right side with the other large wire.

If you bypass the solenoid, pull both fuses on the solenoid.

Thanks. Are the fuses in the fuse box or near the solinoid? It has to be the battery disconnect.

The fuse(s) are usually on the side of the solenoid. It might look like this:

I checked the solenoid fuses and they were good. I was able to get the instrument lights to come on but not to turn over the motor. Then I got nothing again.

Can I bypass the solenoid? Go right to the motor?

If your disconnect solenoid looks like the one in then photo, just remove the big wire from one side and bolt it to the other side. If you do this, you may want to remove both fuses to keep the solenoid from energizing.
