1999 National Dolphin

I have been looking for an inexpensive start to class A's. Ran across a 1999 Dolphin with tag axle on a ford F53 chassis. Original owner and always stored under a shed. Overall great shape. It made roughly 5-6 trips out west and a few trips to the beach. It has 23,000 miles on it. Owner is 78 and hasn't used it in 3 years. Generator needs attention and tires need replacing. With all of this said my question is were Dolphins quality products. Is the 275hp V-10 capable of pulling a toad and what would a fair beginning price be. $20,0000 is where he started.

I think that is too much for a 1999 that will need new tires, 8 tires will be very expensive to buy ($3000 plus). Here is what really scares me! You said it has not been run in three years? The gas will be bad. Means a lot of money to have fuel tank cleaned, plus all the generator carbs will have bad fuel. I would think the batteries will be close to bad, or replacement time. That is another expense. To tell you the truth, I would stay away from one that had been sitting that long. A big headache. A motorhome is not meant to just sit around. The gen should be started once a month for 30 minutes. The engine should be brought to temp. a least once a month. I think you would regret that coach. Your choice, but I would really give it some thought.

I agree with the other poster. Priced to high and it has the potential of being a money pit. As with all purchases it has to be your choice but the possible problems have been mentioned. Good luck with your decision.
