1st longer trip

We are headed out to from Massachusetts to Minnesota at the end of the week to meet friends at the Minnesota State Fair. To date, we've done mostly weekend, and a 2 day drive to North Carolina. This trip pushes our boundaries a bit, with a 3 day drive each way.

The DH has been busy hunting down rattles and installing some much needed shelving. I've been mapping out the drive and planning the meals for the road.

While a bit nervous, we are both looking forward to the trip - it's part of our 'practice' plan for when we retire in a couple years.

May I suggest that you have your DH look at post 927 in this thread for some sound reduction tips. Actually the entire thread is a very good read for a Bounder owner but it's Looooooooog.

Thanks z3406. Yup, that has been a great resource for us. It took me several visits to get through it, but it was worth it in the end.

Yesterday's adventure was climbing under the dash and tightening everything he could find. Can you say 'contortionist'?

Sit back and relax and enjoy the trip. This is such a beautiful country and there is so much to see. The past few years we were on the road 6 months out of the year covering all the states except for Alaska and Hawaii. Do you have any extra time you can use and stop somewhere in between to see something interesting? We like factory tours, and historic sites, and hit as many as we can while traveling. Ever wonder how they make a potato chip, or how Ben & Jerry's makes their Ice Cream?

Good luck and have a pleasant drive!

Bigd9 - unfortunately we have a limited timeframe for this trip. We are meeting friends in Minnesota, so we'll have some time there, but travel time is limited on the way there and back. A couple more years and we'll be retired, then the plan is to stop and smell the roses along the way.

If you have the time fabricate the dash braces. The difference in movement of the dash over bumps is dramatic.

z3406 - that was done yesterday, hopefully it helps! The dash movement was crazy in the Bounder - enough that you couldn't leave the GPS on the center of the console. It's not as bad on the passenger side, but still has a lot of movement.

Noise wise, we've made a lot of progress, but have some more rattles to chase down. At some point we hope to be able to hear the radio.....
