1st Rig

Hello to all,

I've been creepin' for a short while, but finally joined irv2.

Been considering a MH for some time now. Decided that a class A under 40ft will do the job. Towing a 4600# boat/trailer and have 3 kids under 8.

I have seen lots of this and that online. Came across a 94 southwind 35 1/2 footer w chev454 owned locally by an elderly fellow with 24000 miles that's supposed to be pretty nice. Its been sitting in his shed covered up for two years. He said it needs tires and we'll see what else. When I asked how much he was asking, he just said "come and see it and make me an offer".

NADA puts it between 6500-8200 retail.

I'm gonna look it over pretty well to see what works and what doesn't and probably have it checked by someone qualified to do so.

I'm just wondering if anybody has had any experience/ownership with one of these rigs and how it would be as a first unit?

Look at the over hang behind the rear axle and think about a boat ramp and driveway scenario.

Howdy and welcome to the forum. Hope you enjoy your time here on the site. Good luck checking out the rig and hope it works out for you. We had a 94 Bounder 32H but on the Ford chassis. The Bounder is the model below the Southwind. We had a great time with ours and this one should make you a great rig. Check it out and if you have questions don't be afraid to post them over in the Fleetwood owners section of the forum. I'm sure you'll get your questions answered there with no problems. May want to consider a diesel pulling that kind of weight.

Careful of the weight you tow> some of the RVs had a 3500# tow rating or hitch.
