2 Burner Gas Stove

one of the burners on the won't light. Don't hear the usual sparking noise so suspect the igniter is bad. Is this something a DIYer can do?]

What brand and model of stove is it?
Usually it's something easily fixed by anyone handy with a screwdriver.

Take the grate off by pulling straight up. Watch the 4 rubber grommets as they are easily lost. Then push the pan to the rear to unhook the front latches and lift the front enough to clear the burners and slide it forward to release the rear latches. When you hit the igniter see which is not firing. Slide a DRY dish towel under the wire going from the burner to the sparker mechanism. If the igniter sparks, you have a breakdown of the insulation on the wire going to it. It can be replaced or removed and covered with shrink tubing or liquid tape. Standard electrical tape glue won't stand up to the heat under the pan.
