I have a 2001 American Eagle Diesel Pusher and my leveling jacks will not extend. I checked the fuse at the step panel and it seems okay. I tried the reset button at the panel and nothing. Tried removing the plug on the circuit board as well to hopefully reset but that did not work. When I put a wrench on the plug to remove the plug to fill the reservoir with more ATF, the wrench touched a wire for a second and I did get a little pop but wouldn't that have just blown a fuse and not fried anything? Ideas or suggestions?

The name of the leveling system would be helpful. Most all systems have more than one fuse to the system. Be sure to check in the battery control system, dash, battery bank and at the pump motor assembly for blown fuses.

If you got a spark, you MAY HAVE blown a fuse and the fuse MAY have nothing to do with the jacks. Did the hydraulic pump run at all when you pressed the level button? If it did and if you have fluid in the reservoir, then you may have a stuck valve or air in the line. If any work was done on the jacks recently and the lines were not bled, then it could be an air problem.

If the pump did not run at all, then it is an electrical problem - a disconnected wire, a fuse or the control board.

My 2000American Dream has to be running for the jacks to work at all. Try asking on the Yahoo group for American Coach.

What brand/make are the leveling jacks on your 2001 American Eagle?

There are various interlocks that will also prevent the jacks from being used, e.g. most coaches have to be in Park (gas) or have Park Brake on (diesels). Maybe one is not signalling it is ready.
