2001 ultimate advantage

We're thinking of moving up from a 2005 class c holiday rambler (Atlantis ) to a 2001 Winabago ultimate Advantage - what quality Is the ultimate advantage? The 330 diesel , is it a good engine, this rig has one slide out, is that enough room?

The two Ultimate coaches were very advanced in their time. They were the top of the line Winnie's and unlike all other Winnie production, they were built in a separate production facility. The chassis was a semi monocoque design using front and rear Freightliner clips joined by a ladder frame and welded to steel framed sidewalls. This was a very strong chassis but also very heavy. Winnie wasn't using tag axles in those days so this construction didn't leave much weight available for slides and CCC.

Only you can speak to the room afforded by the one slide, which is a fairly shallow slide. The coach weighs about 30k pounds so the Cat 330 should do ok. The receiver hitch is rated to 5k pounds.

If this coach meets your needs in floor plan, CCC and tow capacity then if it's been well cared for, it might be a wonderful coach for you.

Air conditioning

I'm not familiar with the air conditioning being under the floor rather than roof top, any problems? Does It keep the coach cool ?

You really should be posting on the Winnebago forum. The folks that have experience with the Winnebago basement A/C are over there.
