2002 Alpha Motorhome 12v Problems

I am new to this, so here I go. I have a 2002 Alpha SeeYa with 12v system problems. I don't have 12 volt power except when I have the motor running and when I try to turn on the power it works for the chassis but not for the coach. After reading about the problems with the Alpha problems I need help on figuring out a solution.

Your house battery is dead or not connected.

The chassis and house systems are seperate except when the engine is running. Then a solenoid connects them. That's what is powering things.

Two possibilities come to mind. You may have a battery disconnect switch that is off, or the "salesman's" switch near the entrance door may be off. Those are the only things I can think of that might cause your problem.

Do you have 12 volt power if you plug into shore power or run the genny. Your converter should supply power to the lights etc, even if the salesman switch is off. If you have 12 volt power with either of these on, you may have either the salesman switch off, or have blown the battery disconnect relay. It is the relay that operates when you shut off the salesman switch by the entry door. It is generally in one of electrical bays near the batteries. Sometimes it is concealed by a plastic cover. You can bypass it by connecting both large wires onto one stud, or using a jumper cable to connect the two. It would look like this.

Batteries are new. When I try to use the salesman switch I hear a click but no 12v power. I know that there is two of the big boy isolation switches one on the drivers side in front of the tire with all the 12v fuses and another in the compartment with the propane tank that the inverter batteries and the coach batteries hook up to. I do not have 12v power when hooked up to shore power or running the genset.

The clicking relay may be bad. The internal contacts go bad and don't make connection.

With battery disconnected, combine both large cables on one post and reconnect the battery. If things work, you found the problem.

Call Alfateers, they have some electrical schematics of the older units. They emailed me some for ours, ask for the wiring routing also. I think there wer about 10-12 for 2004 SeeYa

Have someone push the salesman switch, and follow the clicking noise if you are having trouble finding the disconnect relay.
