Angry 2003 Bounder A/C Master Controller

I had advice from some of you here about my A/C problems. I finally swapped out what is called 'the thermostat' not to be confused with the thermistors on the walls, front and back. Anyway, the problem is that the main A/C, which is AC1 on the thermostat, will not run in AUTO. I took the thermostat and swapped plugs with AC2 but the problem did NOT migrate to AC2. Which to me means the problem is in the AC itself (which is less than a year old) or the master controller. I was told the controller was under the fridge. I am handicapped but I finally was able to get on the floor, laying sideways, and took of the cover. It was NOT there. So my question is: Where in the world is the controller for the A/C units and do you think it is at fault since I checked out the thermostat?
