On the front of the kitchen sink is water heater switch panel.
Left switch electric, center red light, Right switch gas

Question, Is the red light and indicater for the electric being on or a fault light that the gas didnot llight.
Bouth gas and electric work on waterheater but no red light

Dick

The red light should come on when you switch to gas mode and stay on until the burner lights. Then it goes off. If it stays on or goes off and then comes back on, it indicates a fault, i.e. the burner failed to ignite and gas flow to the burner was shut off to avoid the possibility of an explosion.
