New Poster here. Allow me to jump right in feet first.

I have a 2004 Holiday Rambler Traveler 28RB. According to the brochures available, the 28RB came with a front GAWR of 7,000 lbs., a rear GAWR or 11,000 lbs., and a GVWR of 18,000 lbs. However, the placard in the vehicle states that my rear GVWR is 13,500 lbs. and my GVWR is 20,500.

Did I get an extra 2,500 lbs. of free GAWR and GVWR? Am I missing something? What did I do to deserve this good fortune?

The placard is the final authority. I'm guessing this was an upgrade during the model year. Information in brochures is often incorrect or superseded during production. If you want to be sure just call Monaco tech support with your coach number.

Thanks for the reply, Steve.

I was guessing that it might have been a carry-over chassis from 2003 since the manufacture date is 10/03. Truth is, I don't really care. I'll take my free 2,500 lbs. of extra GAWR and GCWR and run with it.

Now to weigh this thing loaded to see how much I really have to work with.

Which Chassis do you have? The P-32 at 18,000 lbs or the W-20 at 20,500 lbs. For more info on the Traveler esp. the bed, checkout Trek Tracks at TREK Tracks

How do I know what chassis I have? Is there a plate or placard on the chassis that I can look at?

Go to the Workhorse group in the chassis section of irv2 and include your chassis VIN with a request for info and someone will surely be able to identify your chassis.

Not a workhorse - it's a Ford F53.

Manufactures brochures are not the most accurate source of coach specific information. Great for picking colors and floor plan. Concerning the chassis, the Ford incomplete vehicle placard is the your what you want to work off of.

Should be one on the firewall usually closer to the driver's side then center line. Usually to the right of the Ford power distribution/fuse box. White sticker maybe four inches square with the Ford logo. Might be covered by wire looms. Will list the chassis VIN, axle weight limits, tire size and such. My 06 coach also has one in the driver side wheel well on the frame. You can also run the Ford VIN number thru a VIN decoder (a web search "vin decoder" will turn up a bunch) which can list all the original equipment.

If you really want to be 100% sure craw under the back end or maybe just kneel down and inspect the rear axle differential rear cover. The 11,000 lbs. axle the differential cover is cast and bolted on while the heavier axles the cover is stamped and welded on. Pretty sure your front axle is a Westport 7,500 lbs. rated so you should have a Dana 135 13,300 lbs. axle to get to the 22,500 GVWR rating.
