Had independent prepurchase inspection, everything checked out (minor things to be done like a few burned out lights, cracked windshield, roof reseal that will be done by dealer anyway), but at the foot of the bed the coach vibrates like mad with engine running. Inspector said something has to be touching and transferring the vibration to the house. I know in my H1 part of the exhaust touched the frame, causing a similar vibration (can't remember if collapsed motor mount or broken bracket, always improved when in gear and accelerating due to torque shifting everything away from body).

Anyway, inspector looked at mounts said everything was good there, anybody else dealt with this?

You haven't really described what engine and set up you have, but from my Google of "2005 Fleetwood Expedition" it shows a rear engine diesel RV. Assuming you have air bag suspension, ride height is important to be sure the very short drive shaft is aligned between the transmission tail and differential. If ride height is wrong, the stress on the U-joints and end bearing in the transmission can be excessive.

Also check exhaust hangers to be sure exhaust isn't hitting frame or end cap.

We adjusted the idle to 800 RPM and a lot of tbe vibration went away. But I'll have these other things checked!

I wonder if your issue isn't a clogged or bad injector. What was the idle before upping it to 800 RPM?

Tolerance to engine Vibrations can be subjective. Diesel engines are big beasts that are not exactly made to idle silky smooth like a German V6. I dont know that a vibration at idle on a DP is necessarily means there is something wrong. The fact that you raised the idle and it went away doesnt mean anything. The same thing happens on my 2006 Discovery.

My H1 vibrated pretty wickedly when those motor mounts collapsed! Diesels run rough no matter what. But there's more...the coach felt a little "off" so I pulled over and did a walkaround. Sounded like a bucking bronco was trapped back there! Shut it down and walked to the service bays at the truck stop. Got a mechanic to take a quick look - fan clutch failed but thankfully had not allowed the fan to take out my radiator or anything else. YET.

Can't move on anything until Monday.

DP is parked at the truckstop in the middle of nowhere in NM and I'm in a uhaul truck finishing my journey home. Not exactly as planned...
