2007 - 8900 Miles/One Trip

Found a 2007 Tiffin Zephyr that has only taken one trip. Ad says it has new tires and appears to have been in indoor storage. Is this thing a maintenance nightmare due to sitting in storage most of it's life?

Maybe, maybe not.

How long sitting in storage without exercise?
How many miles on the coach?
What are the date codes of the tires?
Service history?

Forgot to add, Is the 8900 miles the total mileage or the one trip or both?
The tires may have been new in 2007.

Haven't talked to owner yet.

Not sure if it was exercised.
8900 miles total
New tires.
Not sure on service history, but with under 10k miles, I can't imagine it being much.

Wonder if they even ran it enough to work all the kinks out.

Motorhome is 11 years old, only has 8900 miles on it and tires are new ??? Tires that look great aren't necessarily new. Do you know them to be new as in a year or so old ??

Scares me a little that it has been idle for all those years and only 8900 miles. Were the miles put on in 2007 ? I'd want it checked out by some professionals. Obviously NADA will add value with the low mileage but they do not subtract for a vehicle sitting for over a decade.

I'm assuming they just put them on. Don't know when the miles were put on, owner didn't answer phone.

It would be worth looking at and getting more detailed information.

I would think you better have your check book ready for all the issues that will be popping up with all the systems that have been sitting idle for so long. A/Cs, furnace, water heater, dump valve seals, generator, etc.

This is what I was wondering about. I know cars and houses fall apart when not used, and this is a combo.

Well worth checking out, If you can buy it right and everything checks out, could be a very nice coach, just take your time checking all systems, indoor storage would be a plus.

Maybe I was unlucky. We bought our 2002 American Eagle in 2012 with only 65K on it. When we hoped in and started full timing, we shook all kinds of problems to the surface.

I think a lot depends on how it was maintained in storage. Proof of this would be a priority.

In 2010 I purchased a 1998 Newmar diesel with 18,000 miles. New tires and batteries, changed all fluids, then drove it another 12,000 miles with no issues.

Maybe I'm just lucky but it had sat for several years before I bought it.

2 years ago we bought a 35 foot 1999 Georgie boy Cruisemaster with 15000 miles. It had sat for 5 years. I put new tires on all the way around, did all maintenance, and did some upgrades. We have put over 10K miles on her. We had one issue where the engine computer went bad. Other than that she drives well and all systems work well. I would look hard at her. Get her inspected and grab her if priced well. Best of luck!
