2007 Damon Challenger Step Rot how to replace

So I have this Damon Challenger 2007 model and I noticed when you step on the metal step it was a bit mushy....My grandson stepped on it this camping weekend and BAM the metal step and the wooden floor broke... There doesn't seem to be any "good" wood left.

I live in Western PA and no one around is interested in repairing it.

ideas that I have to fix.

1. remove the metal step (buy a cheap step stool with a handle) replace the wood on the bottom section

2. see if I can weld metal bar to frame of motor home and have it support step and metal step

Anyone have any other ideas?

Pics....you may build supports that could be self drilling screwed to frame or drilled and tapped. Or 5 sided box
Trailer & MH spot repaired always include some MacGyver work. Metal suppliers many times have cutting & bending available. Cheaper if you can get meatal drop off/leftovers not off full plates. Some big recyclers sell good clean straight scrap pieces as well.
