2008 Holiday Rambler Ambassador 38PDQ

Just signed paper on a new to us Ambassador. 24K miles and in what I would call great condition. It's got a few little issues with upholstery and some cupboard issues the dealer is fixing along with getting new tires.

Question, we feel we did our homework over the last few months before purchasing. Asked a lot of questions about quality and longevity and it seems everyone had pretty much the same answer. MONACO! So we found one with reasonably low miles that was in good shape and bought it. How is the MONACO, Holiday Rambler for quality? Any real issues we should be looking out for? Cummins 360HP with the Allison trans. Purrs like a kitten.

It's our first diesel pusher so any input would be greatly appreciated.

It goe's into our local diesel shop for a service upon pickup next week, and we are going to have them check out the power/drive train.

Thanks gang.

We purchased a 2008 H/R Ambassador 40SKQ in May 2013. Yes we had a few problems but none involved the quality of the coach. It had 28,000 miles and now has about 38,000. We felt we purchased a coach with "good bones" and could upgrade when we felt it necessary. So far no upgrades are needed or required.

Good luck with your purchase.

Ambassador

We are going on three years with ours and really enjoy it. I'm sure you will too.

Does your 2008 Ambassador have the 8 air bag suspension? Does the 2008 have the defective trailing arm issue?

Hurk

Hurk,

The 08 does have the 8 bag suspension but does NOT fall under the category of trailing arm failure. Ive searched the internet for any problems that the unit may have and am aware of the trailing arm issue. I believe the last year for that was 06..??

The 08 is also the last full year model made by MONACO. Im told these are exceptional coaches, but with no real knowledge of diesel pushers im kind of in the dark.

2008 Holiday Rambler Ambassador 38PDQ

I have the 2007 cayman 38 just purchased. I was aware
Of the ride issue and I will get
The ride enhancement kit installed shortly. If yours
Is the 8'bag you should have a great ride. I love my Cayman low miles drear shape fit and finish. Even be better when ride improved.

Also a good place to ask for info is the owners forum under Monaco

We have the 06 version of your coach and it has the same Roadmaster chassis. Any problem with ours was because of poor maintenance by the previous owner, it is a lot of bang for the buck, enjoy!

Conmoto,

What kind of fuel mileage are you seeing from yours?

Fuel mpg varies by the wind direction. When directly into a good breeze and towing our car it can be 6.5 mpg and with a tail wind it can be 9. We have calculated ours out over 20,000 miles to be about 8.
