2008 Winnebago Journey 39Z

We are considering moving from a 2003 gas Fleetwood Southwind 37U to purchasing this particular Winnebago diesel Class A that has 32,000 miles on it, immaculate condition. Any other owners out there who can give a recommendation good or bad? The Fleetwood is beginning to have issues requiring parts that are no longer made, along with normal for age wear out. On visual, the Journey looks to be made better, though much more expensive, with more solid materials. We'd like to get as much trade in from the Fleetwood before anything else major goes. A smoother ride would be nice, also.

A Journey is a fine coach and I believe you will be very happy with it. My friend that I often camp with, just loves his. The basement air in my opinion is also a big plus in that unit, but others on this site may well disagree because Winnebago stopped using them. Most RV repair people are intimidated by the units because they can't just replace it like they do with the roof units when they stop working. The basement heat pump is just like a regular household unit and any good residential A/C man can work on it once you convince him. . I have an 09 Ellipse and I love the basement air. I also love the way it cools along with how quiet it is. I have heard people on this forum saying an RV AC can only move the temperature 15-17 degrees from the outside temp. This summer I was in the Mid-West where is was 104 outside.. It's was a cool 74 inside my coach the whole time. I have never had a problem with the unit and only have good things to say about it (even though I too have heard stories about the duck work coming lose in the rear cap and what a pain that is to fix). Winnebago builds a nice coach and I believe you will get many years of pleasure out of it. However, keep in mind that it's an RV and things will need constant attention as I'm sure you already know since this is not your first RV. I hope this helps and you enjoy your DP!

I have a 2009 Winnebago Destination and we have really enjoyed it. Very comfortable ride and the only problem we have had is with the basement air. We had one compressor go out but once we figured out the problem and located a local shop to work on it we were able to get a rebuild compressor and $2000.00 later we were all good. I still like the basement air as it keeps things very cool and comfortable front to back.

I have a 2009 journey with 38,000 miles. Have had very few problems. The biggest problem was the basement air and by adding roof top hopefully that will solve that problem
