2009 Newmar Canyon Star

Currently looking at a 2009 Newmar Canyon Star 3510 with a 360 horse Gas engine (20,000 miles) and 6 speed transmission. Condition is great but I am curious if the engine has sufficient power and I am interested in any other info/guidance I can receive from this community. Much appreciated.

First off, I suspect it is a 5 speed. I think the 6 speed was introduced last year. Spend some time in the Ford Chassis section under the RV Forums group and you will find many pros and cons conversations.

We have a 2016 Bay Star Sport and of the issues we have had working out the minor kinks, engine power has not been one of them.

Sufficient power is somewhat subjective. It will get you up any hill you will likely want to go up, but you will be in the right lane with the trucks going slow up the hill. I don't have an issue with this but others might find it unacceptable. There are a number of threads on here about the power of the Ford V10 that might be of interest. You can likely find them here with the search or do a google search as there are other boards that carry on similar discussions. Also, if you visit Gone with the Wynns and look at their Alaska trip videos, they spend some time discussing the Ford V10 on hills and provide good video of them climbing some hills.

I personally don't think the power of the Ford V10 is an issue. I also don't think you can go wrong with a Newmar Canyon Star if you like the coach and it has been well taken care of.

Is that on a Workhorse or a Ford Chassis? If it's a Workhorse with the Allison 6 speed transmission, then it is one of the best gas power trains made during that time period. I had one in a 36' Itasca and traveled all over the country pulling a Jeep with no problems. You won't run like a Corvette over the mountains, but it made it just fine.
