2015 Itasca Tribute 31C gas mileage issues
Hi everybody. I'm new to the site and I have a question. We have a '15 Tribute 31 C. It's a fun little rig but the gas mileage is horrible. Last trip from Yuma to Casa Grande (AZ) we got 5.2 MPG. I should add we were towing a Scion XB. we took the rig to Ford in Tucson and they say everything checked out. We had a 2009 Damon Challenger with the same V10 and got consistently 7.3. This rig is smaller and lighter and I really expected at least the same mileage. Any thoughts?

What speed are you driving? Wind? The other thing to maybe check is, raise each axle and spin the tires by hand. There were a number of reports of badly adjusted wheel bearings that created a lot of drag and heat.

We drove from Ajo, AZ to Willcox, AZ and had 5.5 in a 36' towing a CRV. You are going uphill all the way, 1500'(Ajo) to 4000'(Willcox). Pretty much the poorest mileage of a 6000 mile trip.
We do have a 5 Star tune. I don't know if that would make any difference.

Engine broken in? High ethenol content? Toad dragging? So many variables. My rig is similar and got similar mileage once on a tank where we went mostly uphill against the wind.

I think a bigger sample is needed to gauge what the fuel mileage is. Give it a couple three more tanks.

Thanks all. I guess I should have added a few things. We bought this rig in April of last year. It now has 4500 miles on it. The mileage started at low 6 mpg, went up to about 6.75 and then started this consistent drop and has not been out of the "5's" since December. We had a 2009 Damon Challenger 348 before this and consistently got 7-7.5 even going up to the Eisenhower tunnel in Colorado.

Are you using the tow hauling mode on the transmission? Should not need it. What rpms are you cruising at?
