2015 Jayco Precept

The saga continues with this unit and no dealer support. Check engine light came back on while driving home from a 150 mile trip. When we first took delivery the light was on and it coded a bad gas cap or loose gas cap. Dealer said he replaced with new, light still on. Dealer said to take to Ford. Ford said they wouldn't warranty because Jayco modified the fuel system. Dealer will not return calls. Took to my Chrysler dealer. he read code, said gas cap issue and reset computer. Was fine for a week, now back on. Love the coach but am very frustrated. Any ideas out there. Thanks

Call Jayco c/s and let them know what's going on and ask for their intervention.

What is the code?. If EVAP system leak, inspect hoses of EVAP system for cracks. Daughters Jeep has this as a routine reoccurring problem.

Check for a loose clamp on the fill lines and vent line going to the fuel filler. Jayco would have added a pipe and connectors to connect the fuel tank to the body panel. A leak even slight will cause the check light to come on.

End of story. Secondary evap canister broken when motor home was built. Ford fixed and I paid almost 500.00 dollars for repair. Will be refunded by Jayco after talking face to face with a Jayco representative at a dealership. Am trading out of the 31ul for a 35um. Too many issues with the 31. Giving Jayco another chance.

Why do you believe the 35um will be any better built, with better support?

Heavier chassis, spent hours inspecting and testing all components, spoke face to face with two Jayco factory executives and believed what they said, different dealer. Also the cost of the upgrade was very minimal because of the issues I had. Time will tell.

When I first pick up my new Precept, had a check engine light come on driving home. After much time checking for problem, found that Jayco had used to long of screw mounting exhaust clamp, which then went through wire harness; causing light to come on.
