I own a 2016 Forester with a manual transmission. Is this flat towable?

Family Motor Coach says the Forester 2.5i is but check your manual and see if you want to be sure. I heard that Subaru made some changes and not all of their manual transmission cars are towable now.

The online version of the owner manual, http://www.buddssubaru.com/assets/fo...ers-Manual.pdf, does not mention flat towing behind an RV. On page 9-16, it does give the procedure for flat towing behind a flat bed wrecker.

That is what the manual says for my 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek and I have flat towed mine successfully for about 11,000 miles. There are no warnings in my manual other than to not tow it with the motor running. It tows great.

Suburu doesn't support flat towing starting in 2016. Note that the car was not physically changed, but they will not honor the warranty should there be an issue. Sounds like they pulled support due to a liability issue and not a mechanical one.

There are a couple of threads on this in the toad section. I seem to recall one person bought a 2016 to flat tow and Suburu gave him a refund due to the flat tow issue. I am seriously considering the Crosstrek, but will likely go used with a 2015 if I do.
