In the United States we used to call this collusion and price fixing. It was against the law. In the international oil business they call it "A profitable business".

My first tank in Oct 2012 was at $5.49/gal (gas) enroute from CA to MN with our new to us Lazy Daze. (Big spike). I budgeted $4.05 gal at that point. We could never have forseen the dramatic drop in prices. We just doubled down on a new Class C. We bought it knowing gas prices could rise dramatically again, but it's a controllable cost and we can adjust our travel plans accordingly.

Yes, yes it will slow down people buying USED coaches. For a new coach that is 1 months depreciation. As gas prices go up it will definitely effect the sub 40k market.
That is what makes this discussion interesting... not everyone with a class A spent 200k and thinks nothing of an extra $500 in fuel for a summer trip.

Who knows what the prices will do. OPEC just agreed on production limits which has caused an increase but historically these agreements fall through. As soon as the prices go up the producing countries produce more to make more profit in the short term causing inventories to rise. As soon as inventories rise the prices will drop. The US has also become more energy independent in that we are producing more. As soon as prices go some of the well that are sitting idle will be put back into production.
Back in ~2008 I worked for an international commodity company. I asked the lead USA trader what was causing the increase, he replied that he didn't know.
WHO KNOWS.

When I bought our Ellispe in August 2012 fuel was $5 per gallon. Over $500 every other day while traveling cross country. Still less expensive then the Ritz club level and my bar is more impressive. I loving today's fuel prices. With the 4 cars, boat, jet skis, sids by sides, heated pool, motorcycles and several homes, Im the least green carbon friendly person I know. We're in the golden age of carbon fuel, burn baby burn.

We bought our used 36ft. MH this summer and I figured 6 mpg and in our CDN case $6.00 a gallon gas. With the price of hotel rooms and meals I save more than I will ever spend on fuel.
Do I think about the cost of fuel, yes. Do I let it stop me? No.

IMHO, it is not worth worrying about fuel prices. As stated above, they will go up and they will go down. Travel further when the prices are down and take shorter trips when the prices are up...

You can add Ontario to the list, fuel is up around 19 cents a gallon this week.
OTOH I don't have to worry until I take the MH on the road in May, and it has a full tank. Will head for the US with cheaper fuel prices to fill up.

The guy down on the corner from me, installed digital gas prices on his signage. He now changes the price almost daily. Recently, the Price has risen about 30 cents a gallon. I tell my wife that he raises the price of gas whenever he doesn't get "Lucky", the night before. He wants everyone to share his misery. At least that's what is seems like. I knew the coach wasn't gas friendly. I figure 6 mpg, when calculating expected gas expenses. We normally run the generator while on the road, for heat or air.

In 2011, we busted the $6.50 gal. barrier for gas in Canada after the conversion. When we got to Alaska, bargain city @$5.80...so I guess it's all relative and proves RV'ers DO enjoy the lifestyle. I couldn't believe how many fellow Floridians and Texans were up there...I figured we would have the place to ourselves due to the prices.
