Don't think I could every confuse a Winnebago with a $2 million Prevost conversion.

The sauna thing seems a little odd to me. I would certainly rather have the second commode in the back as that would complete a full bath and a half bath mid-ship.

I'm curious where they will put the radiator for the genny. Liberty puts them in a side compartment pulling air from underneath the coach, Marathon puts them in the front grill and Millennium puts it on the roof (I checked when we were buying).

Every converter does things differently, the only thing in common is the Prevost chassis. Our coach has Lithium Ion battery technology. We have three Li house batteries that are replacing 8-10 AGM's. We can bring down our batteries to about 30% then the genny will kick on to recharge. Regular batteries should not be brought down to less than 50%.

I noticed that Foretravel is advertising a 49 inch TV at the front, we have a 55" in the front and a 55" for the outside TV. They are advertising a 55" for the bedroom which seems like overkill, the big TV should be in the living room area.

A fireplace is nice but it takes up precious storage space. Most Prevost coach converters don't put in upper cabinets in the living room as it blocks the large windows. They usually put upper cabinets over the dining area. That leaves needed storage where the fireplace is located. Heated floors work very well so a fireplace is not really needed if you want more storage as we did.

Anyway, I'm sure it will be beautiful as they have been in the RV business for quite sometime.

Safe travels,
Mark

I don't know why they put the bar down the middle of the windshield.

I believe the bar is for rigidity. There are cross-members below the windshield along with a true front bumper. We had the pana-view windshield in our Dynasty and it would pop out occasionally and I would have to have it resealed.

My brother just replaced his one piece windshield (insurance) on his Allegro Bus at a cost of $4,000.

Surprisingly, Prevost windshields are about $400-$450 each and sometimes cheaper as the service center will run a sale on them.

Sure, the one piece windshield is nice but having a solid frame and structcure is worth the trade-off. And, you really do get use to the bar, it's a non-issue.

Safe travels,
Mark

The Foretravel/Provost conversion isn't completely built yet, so no complete info or pic's available.
That was a Newell with the volvo engine I believe.... The iC 37 on display has a Cummins engine..

Saddlesore,

I'm pretty sure that Newell only uses Cummins exclusively.

The leaky Volvo was in a Prevost Millennium.

Right, Volvo owns Prevost now, so all the Prevost conversions come with D13 Volvo engine. 500 hp, great for a bus, will not be a drag racer in a 60000 lb GCWR coach.

Any engine can have a leak.

The current Prevost buses will only have the D13 as the cradle cannot accommodate a larger engine. The D13 is extremely adequate with 1,750 lb. ft. of torque moving our 55,500 lb. coach nice and smoothly.

The D13 is fuel efficient, quieter and has more torque than the Detroit Diesel it replaced.

The newer Prevost buses (2019+?) have bank of electric fans for the radiator (6 or 7). The fans will reverse to remove ice/snow/leaves as needed.

You are right, 55500 lb. CWVR. In my head just comparing it to the 55000 lb Newell Coach that has 650 hp and 1950 ft/lbs.
Had a Foretravel 40 footer that weighted 31000 lbs and had a ISM with 500 hp and 1550 ft/lbs. Not a drag racer either, but on the big grades. not many motorhomes passed me. For mountain driving hp to weight ratio is important.
Read an article about the new prevosts with electric fans, only used enough fans, or fan speed, to keep engine temps within range, much better idea than the two speed power sucking hyd fans many big coaches have.

Hmm,,You may be correct.. They use Detroit/Cummins and I think that they may have used Volvo a time or two..been a while since I've been to Miami, OK.

Newell used a variety of engines in the early day, but believe they went to the 8v92 in the 80's with maybe a couple of 6v92's. In 95, went to the Series 60 , I had one of the first Series 60 coaches, mine had the 4 speed allison, but most after mine had the 6 speed. After 2004 or so, they also also used the Cat C-12,13,15, then when Cat lost its OTR certification, went to the Cummins ISX. But of course, you can order any legal engine/transmission package you want with a Newell, so no telling what is out there.

jcussen, thanks for the info.

We looked really hard at Newell when we were wanting a new coach. What sold me on the Prevost was that there are Prevost centers across the country that are fully stocked for chassis components and offer mobile services in many area's.

We live in CA and in TN so we do a lot of driving back and forth. Looking on the road, we just didn't see very many Newell's compared to Prevosts. That sold me right there.

I would think that Newell has a network of chassis authorized facilities across the country. They are beautiful coaches.

Safe travels,
Mark
