Hi All,

I'm a newbie, and been shopping for a Class A motorhome, preferably a diesel pusher. I found a 98 model Tradewinds 7370 with 68000 miles on it. I drove the unit and really liked it. Is there anything that I should be Leary of with this unit?
It drove and handled great, I'm handy, so a little remodleing will improve the looks tremenously. Any comments would be much appreciated.

I'm not familiar with that particular one, but previous maintenance records are nice to have access to. Tires and batteries can get pretty expensive so look at the dates on those.
I believe that has the 300 cat in it with an Generac genny.

Maybe someone will chime in on more specific details.

What kind of generator does it have? My '99 had a Genwreck diesel and it was really loud.

Have the coach 4 corner weighed. Mine was off side to side, front to rear by 1,000 pounds. Made it drive like krap and neither the factory or Freightliner would correct it,

Welcome to the Forum! There are several members on here with similar tradewinds models. Ours is a 97 that we picked up this past November and we Love it!! Although, we have had to do some repairs to it that were not apparent immediately. We drove it home with no problems but soon had to replace the Starter. Then, On our first 1,400 mile trip the Turbo Crapped out! So I would definitely check the turbo shaft for play. It was a $2500 repair that I had to do on the road. Was not hard if you are mechanically inclined ( And with the help of some awesome members on here) I would have preferred to catch it early and done it at home. Otherwise, we have driven it to Utah and back from Houston tx, and to st. Louis with many weekend trips in between. I really love the propane generator!! Lasts long time!!! We are currently doing an interior remodel to update for newer look and changing the graphics outside! If you have time, have the oil tested which I have heard is a good thing. Overall, it is an awesome coach, and I am glad we got it!

Thanks to all of you for your input. It is a propane generator, and the owner has all maintenance records from the time it was new. I'll invest in new tires for safety (7 years old) and remodel to modernize it. Thanks again. Pat

I have a '99 Tradewinds.
A few minor problems, but nothing too bad.
Great turning radius, and plenty of power in mine. (300 CAT)
Handling isn't the best in high wind, but other than that I'm happy with it.

I owned one...in 4 years only had minor replacement /repair issues most i did myself..only big thing was the water pump...had the propane generac found it reliable and not too noisy. Had some issues driving in wind, but i got used to it. Good solid well built coach overall.

We own the same mmake and model now for 3 years and fulltime in it.

It has good to us with minor repairs eq. a bearing seal and had to replace brakes on that wheel but otherwise there has been no problems.

So far have put on 10000miles and am on my way to Alaska doing the whole round about for 4 months and have full confidence in the unit.

I know from studies that this model was the top of the line for National RV when they were in business.

There is also a National RV club thru this forum which has given me great assurity that if something goes wrong there a lot of voices that will help you with your problem and give you the solution.
