$40K to spend on a used Class A
My wife and I(in our 40's) plan to full time mainly in the Western half of the US. I can work remotely and plan to stay in RV parks and boon dock 50%-%50%,depending where we are. I'm looking for something that will hold most of its value, even if its an older reliable one (32-36 ft) Any ideas would be great! Thank you

Take a look at National's products you may be able to find a good used Dolphin or Sea Breeze, they built high quality motorhomes then went out of business in 2008. We are happy with our Sea Breeze very few issues or problems.

Unless that 40K has additional funding available, suggest you consider 30k, or maybe 35k tops if you can find something with recent tires on it.
For a coach to "maintain" it's value, maintenance will need to be a top priority the entire time you own it. Stuff like cracked paint or peeling decals, or worse, something where water intrusion has become an issue, will have their value just killed.

Don't be discouraged. We found a 2000 model in very good shape. Searched Craigslist for a long time, found a 38' Newmar Dutchstar diesel pusher with a toad for 35k. This was about 15-20k below blue book values not including the car.

We are selling our 2004 Georgetown XL 359 3 slides with 10,000 miles on it to order a DSDP. The original owner bought it at a show up here in Northern Maine (Caribou) with 1800 miles from the factory on it. He and his wife went on two trips and decided it wasn't for them. They put it in heated storage every year and I bought it last year. We put 6 new tires, all new batteries, hoses and belts, just because of age. We put 5,000 miles on it last summer. It has all the options and of course the paint is like new. The stickers were still in the sink and shower. We bought it to see if we liked RVing. Its 35' 9" Send me an email if interested and I can send pics. Bill@TrackerSystems.com I paid 40 for it last year, I'd take around 35k

Suggest to budget on having to put $5k or more into a used coach after you buy it. Tires, batteries, stuff that needs fixed, services needed, etc.

Yep, for sure budget at least $5,000 the first year you buy it and probably $5,000 the next year as well. After that you can hopefully knock it down to $3,000 or so.

Best bang for your buck period. This one is priced 10k under market and if my wife wouldn't shoot me I would have already bought it just to flip it.

Bought a 2000 Thor Hurricane in 2013 for a very reasonable price (owner knew it needed tires, batteries, etc.)
I easily spent $5,000 to bring it up to my "road worthy" standards.
We drove it several thousand miles and recently sold it opting for a 2003 DP that I have spent about $3,000 on so far.

after living in a 30' for over thirty days last year and this year, I would never buy anything less than a 40' motorhome to go full time in, with just me and the wife and the dog, this one is way too small,

Hi,
I picked up a 1998 Fleetwood American Tradition with a Cummins C8.3 mechanical injection pump and only 26,400 miles for under 30k. Mint condition. Look at Fleetwood line.

Agreed. We are pleased with the best bang for the buck Fleetwood products.
Currently own a 2000 Bounder 39Z but trading to the dealer for a 2008 Bounder 38S. My trade in is only $20K with 3 year old tires and new batteries. Good deals are out there. I'm guessing that the dealer will put it on the lot for about $25K.
