50 amp power cord

I was wondering if anyone know how to convert this problem. I have a 2005 37C Pace Arrow. The 50 Amp cord has to be taken completely out of a compartment and plug in. The plug is in the back rear on the drivers side completely in the back of it. Makes it difficult to do with a bad back. Has anyone been able to put in a reel of any kind?

Another option is to have the long power cord spliced with male / female connectors and get a 15' extension cord. It weighs a lot less and is easier to deal with. You can leave it plugged in and hopefully get lucky and be within that distance most of the time. I am having the splice done this weekend in connection with the install of the PI 50 amp portable surge protector mounted in the electric bay. I don't have room for a power reel and the good ones are a little on the heavy side and for a lot of applications are at the back in the already battery heavy area of the coach. Just a thought and I do feel your pain.

50% of the time, I do not need more than 15' of power cord. So, I would recommend that you shorten your current cord and use the rest as an extension if needed. That would just involve two new ends to be mounted. I may do this myself in the near future on my 35' cord.

Currently, I find it easier to move and store the cord all coiled into a container. So I have been using this garden tub for the past 7 years.

I want to thank all who replied back. I will cut mine in have and put the proper connections on. Then I will leave 15 ft. connected in the department and it is large enough for the 15 ft. cord to be stored. If I need the other half I can still use it.
