My wife & I just returned from a short trip to Michigan. We stayed in a campground and were connected to shore power for 3 days, on the evening of the third day we realized that the motorhome was getting cold, the outside temperature was in the 30's. The furnace had been working fine but I could not get the furnace to turn on, then my wife noticed that the lights were dimmer then usual. I changed my connection from 50 amp to 30 amp and the furnace turned on and lights got brighter. I talked with the campground owner in the morning and he knew of no power problem in the campground. Do I have a motorhome issue or was it a pedestal issue? The motorhome is 2015 Allegro Red. Thanks for any help.

Did you or the campground owner bother it check the 50 amp pedestal receptacle and breaker?

Lights and furnace fan are 12 volt , so in order to keep them operating properly your converter / charger has to be powered up and maintaining the battery state of charge. Check the breaker panel in the coach to make sure the converter hasn't tripped the breaker , then find and check the converter itself for blown fuses or circuit breaker on the unit.
EDIT: After a re-read, of your post.
If everything started working when you changed from 50 amp plug to the 30 amp with an adaptor , then one leg of the 50 amp power was down and the converter wasn't powered up. 1/2 your coach operates on one leg of the 50 amp and 1/2 on the other . When you put in the 30 amp adaptor it splits the 30 amp to each leg in the coach.

Thanks, I'm taking the coach in for warranty work and was concerned that I might have a coach problem.

Three posibilities
1: Many RVers have a screw or a few screws loose.. Some of the screws in my electrical system were very loose,, One took over 2 full turns before I felt resistance.. Locations include the plug (if not modled)
IF the cord is detachable the outlet (RV end of cord) and Inlet (part of RV)
About the only ones I have not seen loose are the ATS,, but then mine was replaced under warranty... I have seen all the above,, Outlets twice, and I am NOT an RV tech.

The park's 50 amp breaker.. We know these are ganged breakers and we THINK this means they both trip at the same time.. This is NOT the case with many of them..They are simply two breakers, one housing and levers tied together,, but they are NOT ganged. In some cases triipping one will trip both but not always.

And again,, the park breakers.. They too have screws and contacts that can come loose

Finally there is the 50 amp outlet... Might have worn to the point where one leg failed to connect.

It was most likely a problem with the pedestal.

Before your next trip, invest in a Progressive Industries EW50C EMS system. I prefer the built in unit with remote display, but if you want a pedistal mounted system that fine as well. You will instantly know the power coming from the pedistal as soon as you plug in. You will also know if you have voltage issues (high or low), grounding issues, neutral issues, etc.
